About Me

  • Hi there! I'm Alexandra Huber, a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor. Originally from Germany, I made the move to Ireland many years ago, and I've been captivated by the soul of this beautiful country ever since—it truly feels like home to me.

My academic and professional journey began near Munich, where I pursued my Engineering studies in Landscape Architecture, specialising in Urban Planning. There, I was deeply drawn to the idea of creating urban spaces that foster community, light, nature, and life—spaces where people can truly flourish.

Yet, I felt a longing to find a profession that resonated more deeply with my authentic self. And so, my journey led me to Psychotherapy and Counselling—a path where I feel truly in my element.

Through my work, I've had the privilege of forming deep therapeutic relationships with my clients—relationships that have affirmed to my heart that I'm exactly where I'm meant to be. I'm here to support clients on their own unique quests—whether they're seeking connection, healing, authenticity, serenity, or balance.

Every person's story and experiences are different, and I'm here to provide a space where each individual can feel seen, heard, held, and empowered to explore their journey in a safe and supportive environment.

Qualifications

Take a look at my Academic Qualifications, Research and Professional Membership:

  • Middlesex University London:

My BSc’s qualification represents a comprehensive four-year journey of academic and clinical exploration. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I immersed myself in continuous professional development courses, personal therapy, accrued invaluable supervision hours, and engaged in meaningful client session hours.

One unique aspect of psychotherapists is that we often undergo personal therapy as part of our training and professional development. This personal experience allows us to understand the process from both the therapist's and the client's perspective, fostering greater insight into the therapeutic journey. This commitment to personal growth and self-awareness is a cornerstone of our practice, ensuring that we provide you with the most compassionate and effective support possible.

As an integral part of our degree, we explore our own experiences and understand our triggers. Embarking on this long-term journey of self-discovery, I unearthed blind spots, delved into my unconscious mind, and embraced the multifaceted aspects of my being. This transformative process not only deepened my understanding of myself but also enhanced my capacity as a therapist.

  • During my BSc studies, I had the incredible opportunity to delve into the world of motherhood through qualitative research. I consider myself fortunate to have connected with amazing mothers across various ages, each with young children, who generously shared their experiences of making friends in Ireland. Their openness and vulnerability allowed me to gain profound insights into the intricacies of motherhood.

Through these interviews, I acquired a deeper understanding of the commonalities and differences in mothers' experiences, particularly concerning informal social support and its connection to their overall well-being. It was a journey filled with learning, empathy, and personal growth, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this field of study.

  • Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP):

As a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, I am proud to be a Pre-Accredited Member IACP, the Irish Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling, signifying my commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and Green Engineering, Germany:

While my initial academic background in Landscape Architecture with a specialisation in Urban Planning may appear unrelated to psychotherapy, it has afforded me a distinct viewpoint on the intricate relationship between individuals and their surroundings. Much like urban planners endeavour to craft harmonious and nurturing environments for communities, I employ this holistic ethos in my psychotherapy practice, by cultivating spaces where clients feel secure, validated, and empowered.
